The absurd Pop Team Epic is Street Fighter 6's next collaboration, not Zenless Zone Zero

In its first year since release, Street Fighter 6 has been no stranger to collaborations far outside of the realm of fighting games, and it looks like that trend is going to continue.

While it looked as though SF6 may be gearing up for a crossover with Zenless Zone Zero, Capcom instead revealed the newest collab is going to be with the wildly absurd Pop Team Epic.

The bizarre manga / anime series is coming to the game later this month with a slew of themed items to use in the online modes.

As is shown on the official announcement, that’ll include funny new photo frames, titles, stamps, and phone backgrounds at the least featuring Popuko and Pipimi.

They’ll join the likes of Spy X Family and Baki the Grappler as other anime that’s officially appeared in SF6 to this point, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting special avatars or avatar items to use for the girls.

Right now, Capcom hasn’t exactly confirmed the Pop Team Epic collab for regions outside of Japan, but considering we got the Baki crossover here before, we presume it’ll be available at least mostly worldwide.

All players will need to do to unlock the weird new gear is to log on during the event period.

According to the website, the Pop Team Epic Collab will run from July 17 through August 16.

For other crossovers, SF6 is adding its first guest characters in Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, which opens the door to many more possibilities than before.

The lead developers for Capcom even said they’d be interested in a Mortal Kombat collab in the future.

Right now, the game also just received its latest Fighting Pass themed around M. Bison and Shadaloo, which is set to run through most of the month as well.
