That one time where MkLeo got 3 stocked at a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament… technically
It’s difficult to argue against the idea that T1|MkLeo is the best Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player in the world right now. The man’s tournament results really speak for themselves. Few players in the world can even say that they’ve taken a single game off of MkLeo before.
However, even MkLeo isn’t infallible. During the Pound 2022 event over the weekend, MkLeo played a game against Riddles. Surprisingly, MkLeo ended up getting 3 stocked by Riddles’ Kazuya.
Of course, it’s worth mentioning that this match wasn’t actually part of the main Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament that was being held at Pound 2022. Rather, this was a Squad Strike match where each player used three characters each.
Although Riddles had Terry Bogard and Roy on backup, Riddles only needed Kazuya to beat MkLeo’s Wolf, Pyra & Mythra and Corrin. Once Riddles was able to start momentum with Kazuya, things just went downhill for MkLeo.
But since this wasn’t even part of the main tournament, it’s entirely possible that MkLeo wasn’t taking the match quite as seriously as he would a real tournament match. The fact that he typically doesn’t even use Wolf at major events is quite telling of this.
Still, a win is a win. This is quite a remarkable feat on the part of Riddles who managed to make it into the top 8 portion of Pound 2022’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate bracket without dropping a set.
