The more we see of Terry Bogard in Street Fighter 6 the more impressed we become as it’s increasingly clear Capcom has treated the Street Fighter franchise’s premier guest with enough thoughtful tender love and care to do justice to his 30+ years of existence.
Monday seemingly marked the end of an embargo for new Terry footage as a handful of content creators and news outlets have released a bunch of it. We’ve already seen evidence of a ton of Easter egg references and extra mile details, but fans are talking right now about how Terry has a slightly different intro and win animations based on the costume he’s wearing.
Gamespot has rolled out some nine minutes of brand new gameplay footage for SF6’s next DLC character, and during their video we get to see a Terry mirror match wherein first player is using his standard attire while second player is using his alternate look that comes from his Garou: Mark of the Wolves appearance.
Terry is normally seen sporting his trademark red “Fatal Fury” hat, and this accessory plays a role in his animations as he tends to toss it up into the air and stylistically snag it.
His intro animation actually begins with the hat spinning in midair as Terry leaps to grab it and put it on his head. If you win with Mr. Bogard, he proceeds to pound the ground and then toss his hat up into the sky as the ground pound explosion frames him from a low angle shot.
Pick The Legendary Wolf’s alternate Garou costume and he loses his hat but puts on his equally iconic brown leather jacket. The jacket essentially replaces the hat for similar, but different animation sequences as Terry positions himself to interact with the alternate clothing article.
You can see his secondary outro animation via the quick clip here and then both of his intro animations via the beginning of the video embedded below.
Akin to the intro, Terry Bogard’s victory animation for Street Fighter 6 changes depending on the character’s Current Outfit.

This might be a one-off ordeal that simply came about thanks to the pairing of the aforementioned differences in clothing and the fact that Terry interacts with his accessories during intro and outros, but it could also imply we’ll be seeing other such alterations with future characters.
We recently covered Terry’s pre-fight walk out animations that feature two different SNK cameos based on whether you’re on the player one or player two side. While all characters in SF6 have slightly different walk out animations based on their side, none are quite as elaborate as having a completely different background character appear to root you on.
Speaking of different animations, we also only recently got to see what Terry’s Critical Art animation looks like thanks to Maximilian’s gameplay footage video.
You can see how it differs (it’s much better in our opinion) from his level 3 animation and see a ton of additional gameplay footage with breakdown and commentary from Max.
