Teran Martin, founder of the Nustle, created her product after becoming frustrated during her breastfeeding journey.
Breastfeeding can be the most beautiful experience but don’t we know, it can also be the most frustrating and disappointing experience. In that struggle is where the Nustle was first created. Mom’s just amaze me with their ingenuity and ‘I’m going to make this better!’ attitude. Plus, every wrap comes with a free consultation with a lactation expert. This will help to ensure Mama gets the support she needs to find success in her breastfeeding journey!
The Nustle by Mama’s Milk Wrap is a non-ingestible breastfeeding aid that offers full coverage, hands-free pumping, soft conforming design that supports natural production or suppression through the application of heat or cold therapy.
Teran speaks on how being a female entrepreneur and offers advice below.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
It has been difficult networking and finding the folks who actually know what they are doing and are good at what they do. It’s weeding through the scams and finding the gold. But business is trial and error and you learn how to vet those whom you outsource to even better the next time.
Did you always want to be an entrepreneur?
I have always wanted to find a way to be home with my children yet still support the family. But the Nustle was the devine result of my struggles of a nursing mom. I realized what I needed to be successful in my journey wasn’t available on the market so I created it. No matter what, my passion is helping support nursing women, by helping them through the Nustle or connecting them to lactation experts or simply being the voice that cheers them on.
What outside resources were helpful for you? Business incubators, Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, ….
In starting out, jumping feet first into the big market and big tradeshows helped get the word out as the tradeshows were pertinent to reaching my audience. I was blessed early on to have meet a woman who knew the manufacturing industry and she helped guide me in getting the Nustle mass produced. I’ll add that Marketing 360 has been a great tool in streamlining the audience reach as they are experts in their field focusing on all things marking and showed care about learning my business.
For women entrepreneurs, what specific advice would you have for young women who would like to become an entrepreneur? Are there specific advantages, disadvantages to being a women business owner?
Even though I found my passion through my struggles, I do what I do to be an example for my children. I want every young woman to know that when you find your passion and purpose it’s worth going after. There will be ups and downs but remember why you are passionate and your ups will feel like you are flying. Align your goals with your passion and purpose and reach for the highest mountain. One day that mountain will be a small hill as you look back on your life and see just how far you’ve come!
