Tekken 8 Version 1.02.01 patch notes released, update dropping later this week

Tekken 8 has been in the hands of players one month already and finding itself quite a bit of success and good will with more stuff coming along the way soon.

Bandai Namco released the official Version 1.02.01 patch notes for Tekken 8 along with the time the new update will release.

The official time of the update drop is scheduled for tomorrow, February 28, for those of us in North or South America at around 6 p.m. PST.

Server maintenance is set to run from 5:30 p.m. PST until up to midnight during which time all online content will be unavailable to access or use.

One of the big new additions to the game will be the previously announced Tekken Shop that’ll contain both free and premium items including character and avatar skins / items, which can be purchased with the newly introduced Tekken Coins premium currency.

A Uniqlo UT x Tekken collaboration is coming to the Tekken Shop upon release too that will add free T-shirts for characters and avatars based on the real Tekken 30th anniversary shirts Uniqlo is selling at their stores and online.

On top of that, Bandai Namco is taking action against reported cheaters, who will be removed from the leaderboards and have their ranks reset back to Beginner, while potentially more severe restrictions for cheaters and rage quitters remain in the works.

Finally, the Tekken Fight Lounge is going to receive a handful of quality of life improvements to make the experience better / smoother.

As for the game’s characters, Alisa, Asuka, Azucena, Bryan, Claudio, Dragunov, Feng, Hwoarang, Jun, Kazuya, King, Kuma, Panda, Lars, Law, Leo, Leroy, Lili, Nina, Raven, Reina, Victor, Xiaoyu and Yoshimitsu will be adjusted in the update.

Many of these will simply be fixing unintended issues or bugs though Leroy’s dog Sugar has notably received a nerf to make her hitbox disappear if the fighter takes damage before she makes contact.

Since battle adjustments are being made, replays from the current build of Tekken 8 will be deleted / made unavailable to view while Super Ghost Battle data will be updated to match the current state of the game.

You can check out the character adjustments in the image below as well as the full list of changes being made to the game or on the Tekken website as we update this story here.
