Tekken 8 server maintenance scheduled for tonight starting at 5:30 pm PT for sizable new update

It’s a bit weird to think that Tekken 8 has already been out in the hands of players for a month already, and the game is about to receive its second update of note.

Bandai Namco is about to begin a somewhat lengthy server maintenance on Tekken 8 to prepare for the incoming Version 1.02.01 patch tonight.

According to their previous information, the maintenance period is scheduled to begin ant 5:30 p.m. PST / 8:30 EST and run potentially through midnight PST / 3 a.m. EST.

The update itself is slated to be up for players to download starting around 6 p.m. PST / 9 p.m. EST though we don’t know what size to expect out of that yet.

During the server maintenance, all online functionality will be unavailable including matchmaking, lobbies, leaderboards and more.

One of the big additions in the update is the Tekken Shop, which is going to feature free and premium items to use for characters, avatars and more, with a Uniqlo UT collaboration launching in it with some free shirts.

This will also introduce Tekken Coins as a new premium currency to use within the shop for said premium items.

Most characters on the roster are receiving some battle adjustments as well though they mainly focus on fixing issues like seemingly King’s unbreakable chain grabs but also nerfing Leroy’s dog Sugar too.

Bamco is giving the Tekken Fight Lounge some handy quality of life improvements as well as some system changes to help make online matches a bit smoother.

Finally, cheaters with boosted scores are going to be removed from the leaderboard and have their ranks reset while harsher punishments are in the works for them and rage quitters.

Stay tuned for more updates on Tekken 8 as they become available.
