Today may basically mark the end of Tekken 7 after many years of hype and crazy matches, but the new era is about to begin.
Before the Tekken World Tour 2023 Finals top 8 kicked off earlier, Bandai Namco unveiled the official opening cinematic movie for Tekken 8 that’s quite a bit longer than you may expect.
Things start out with a bird flying through the destroyed city from the first chapter of the game’s story mode with Jin and Kazuya’s first explosive battle here with a song that’s reminiscent of some of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s iconic tracks.
Much of the shots in the first half seem to be pulled from the story mode as well with Victor on his ship, Reina walking down the street with her hood up and Nina walking with her JACK army until we get to some heroic poses from Lars, Lee, Leroy and the gang.
What’s perhaps most interesting, though, is the shot showing Reina on a throne sporting the Mishima Zaibatsu logo adding more fuel to the fire of her lineage.
Before getting back to Jin, Kazuya and Jun, we’re treated to an epic shot of a massive battlefield with everyone duking it out with some epic clashes and fun group shots.
On top of this, Bandai Namco also announced Eddy Gordo as the first DLC character for Tekken 8, which currently makes us 1 for 1 in our predictions for who is making it in.
You can check out the full opening with Eddy’s stuff at the end below, and Tekken 8 is still on track to release January 26 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
