Tekken 8 was initially teased at Evo 2022 and then officially announced during Sony’s latest State of Play program. Since then, we haven’t received much information about Tekken 8.

Based on the trailer, it looks like Kazuya and Jin are almost for sure playable characters within the game and are thus far the only fighters that have been shown. However, a recent video showcasing some motion capture footage for Tekken 8 may have “leaked” two additionally fighters.

At one point during the 30 second clip, a character that appears to be holding a sword is flung into a wall thanks to the help of suspension ropes and other people. Could this character be Yoshitmitsu?

Of course, it’s possible that this could also be a newcomer character that’s wielding a sword. However, it should be noted that Yoshimitsu has appeared in every mainline Tekken entry from the first Tekken to Tekken 7. As a result, the idea of Yoshimitsu returning as a fighter would not be all that surprising.

Alternatively, this motion capture stunt could be another character that just happens to be wielding a sword for a story cutscene. Characters like Raven and Kunimitsu are strong candidates here.

In a later part of the clip, another motion capture actor can be seen snarling in a hunched manner. This individual is clearly wearing a special type of pants that has a dinosaur tail sticking out of it.

Based on this motion capture actor’s mannerisms and the dinosaur tail, we’re led to believe that Alex, a Dromaeosaurid, is the dinosaur-like character that will be appearing in Tekken 8. What’s interesting is that Alex has only had one canonical appearance in the Tekken series with Tekken 2. For the most part, Alex’s moveset functions as a clone of Roger’s.

Since Alex operates as a clone character of Roger’s, this should also be seen as good news for Roger fans. Similar to the relationship between Kuma and Panda in Tekken 7, this probably means that both characters are in while fighting with the exact same moveset.

Of course, it should also be noted that this motion capture actor is letting his hands droop, similar to that of a dinosaur’s. Since his hands aren’t contained within a pair of boxing gloves, something else could be going on here.

However, it’s entirely possible that one or both of these characters could just be part of the game’s story mode. While this doesn’t 100% confirm these fighters as being playable in Tekken 8 just yet, their odds of being part of the roster are extremely high at this point.
