Tekken 7 is just a few months shy of celebrating its ninth birthday, but fans may be a little preoccupied to celebrate as Tekken 8 officially dropped in North America on Thursday at 3 p.m. PST.
The latest King of Iron Fist Tournament is getting tons of praise across the internet, and we’ve got everything you need to get started playing. Read on to get nice and prepped for Tekken 8 with recent news, price points, and a review round up.
First of all, Tekken 8 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but there are a few versions to choose from. The standard edition includes the entire base game with no extra fixing, and will cost players $69.99.
For $99.99 you can nab the Deluxe Edition, which includes the first year character pass as well as the Kinjin avatar skin and the Gold Suit Pack which is aptly named as it gives every character an additional gold suit costume to wear.
Fork over a few more bucks and at $109.99 you can grab the Ultimate Edition which includes all of the above plus a few additional avatar skins and costumes.
Those who want to go above and beyond can nab the Collector’s Edition for $299.99 and get all the above plus a 25 cm-tall Jin statue, steel book case, 8 glossy collectible cards, Leroy Smith’s ring with a carrying pouch and a special arcade token.
Before we get too much further along, a quick look at the game’s opening movie may be in order:
Those who purchase the character pass will get the four planned DLC characters as they release over the course of the year. We know only the identity of the first of these, and it’s long time Tekken fan favorite Eddy Gordo. You’ll see a bit of footage of Eddy in the trailer above.
For those of you who may want to expand your Tekken wardrobe right off the bat, there are 32 alternate costumes you can unlock without forking over real or in-game cash. We’ve got both a guide and gallery showing how they look and how to get them.
Below you’ll find a handful of reviews (including our own) from all over the web. Tekken 8 is getting a lot of positive remarks as it seems Bandai Namco has been able to dial in the approach for the right combination of fun, challenge, and exploration.
