It’s been about two weeks since Tekken 8 was released worldwide. However, it seems that Bandai Namco intends to push many updates for the game that address issues and adjust the game’s overall balance as the version 1.01.04 patch was recently released.
Kohei Ikeda, Director of Tekken 8, is already looking at potential future changes for the game. He recently posted on Twitter a small sampling of issues that the team is currently looking into.
More than likely, the next patch will address Victor’s throw escape window, Alisa’s follow up to “Brute Force Attack,” and how chain throws tend to become unbreakable if used as a punish. Ikeda says that we should stay tuned for further updates on the next update’s timing.
As things stand, combatants like King can deal a tremendous amount of damage by using a chain throw when specifically used to punish an unsafe action from the opponent. Some may have believed that this was an intentional interaction, but it’s apparently going against the wishes of the developers.
Of course, there will probably be more balance tweaks and bug fixes in the next patch that have not yet been mentioned by Ikeda. Evidently, Bandai Namco intends to apply adjustments more often than Capcom who are essentially only releasing a balance update once per year.
Check out Ikeda recently had to say about the next balance patch below:
After this patch, we will continue to address unintended behaviors and investigate/verify the issues reported through #T8_report.
Ex:
-Victor’s throw escape window
-Alisa’s follow-up to ‘Brute Force Attack’
-Chain throws becoming unbreakable during a PUNISH
