Tekken 8 Director claims the team is going after cheaters now while responding to awesome Heihachi JACK-8 custom character

Encountering cheaters is one of the fastest ways to dampen the experience and fun of an online game and sometimes even if you’re not even interacting with them directly.

One of Tekken 8’s Directors in Katsuhiro Harada recently went online to assure fans they’re going after cheaters in the fighting game now while doing so in a fun way.

Harada took to X/Twitter to share the news, but also did it in response to an awesome fan customization from Chanel that gave Heihachi a new robot body.

“You are permanently banned because you made an [illegal] customization (Just kidding),” wrote the longtime Bandai Namco boss in jest. “On a different topic, we are currently dealing with the cheaters on the ranking boards (This is not a joke).

Although he’s not the most specific in his claim, we presume Harada is talking at least in part about the issue of certain players who got caught apparently boosting their ranked matches all the way to the top of the leaderboards.

This seems to have been done by largely fighting the same opponents over and over again, who are also in on the exploit if not also the same persons in question, to gain ranking points faster than what should be possible legitimately.

Harada doesn’t say how they’re going after these cheaters or what they’re going to do to them, but it’s safe to assume they’ll have their points reset and receive a stern message at the very least — if not an outright ban from playing online at all.

We’ve yet to really hear much about any other types of cheats like specific bots and scripts though if they are present, hopefully Bamco has a handle on them too.

Tekken 8 doesn’t need these detractors so soon after launch, especially when we rated the game very highly in our big review as well as our readers sharing similar sentiments in our community polls.

And as for the Heihachi JACK-8 creation, that’s probably best use we’ve seen out of the customization feature to bring back the deceased Mishima boss while doing so in a way that looks cool and would actually be a plausible idea for the world of Tekken.
