Tekken 8 is already entering its fourth full month since launch, and there’s thousands upon thousands of players still logging on to do battle each day.
AlietteFaye recently put together a handful of new charts from Tekken 8’s data to detail which characters are most popular now so far in May as well as their rank distribution — and even which platform is currently seeing the most players.
This data was collected from over 765,000 ranked match replays from May put together by NotQuiteFactual on Reddit that delves even deeper into the data presented here.
As far as the characters go, Jin, King and Reina are the top three in terms of Ranked usage as the only ones above 6% while Kazuya overtook Hwoarang for fourth place.
From last month’s stats, Eddy of course dropped from the number one character, but he’s still in the upper half of the roster at 13th.
On the new balance patch, it looks like fighters including Leroy, Steve and Asuka gained the most ground while Azucena and Jun saw the most drop off compared to April.

For Tekken 8’s current player base, AlietteFaye also included a chart based on the data showing the percent of users split between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
It appears that Steam is actually leading both consoles combined according to these stats with 53.18% of those playing Ranked, which is very interesting though also a bit unfortunate considering some of the continued stability issues Tekken has / is still dealing with on PC specifically.
Comparitavely, 39.35% of the online users were coming from PS5 while only 7.47% were queuing up from Xbox.
It is very important to note that these percentages do not represent the total number of copies owned up to this point, but rather just from who all was playing when this particular data set was gathered.

Finally, the rank distribution charts show the most players are still grouped between Garyu and Tenryu ranks though those numbers are trending upwards into the higher ratings.
Interestingly, the percent of players in Tekken Lord Supreme and Lord of destruction have basically doubled since last month but players who’ve grinded to reach that point are still in the top 0.59% of everyone online.
It seems you need to reach at least Tenryu to say you’re better than more than half of the people in Ranked and Battle Ruler to be around the top 25%.
Take all of this information with a grain of salt as well since it is not official data from Bandai Namco, but from fans gathering data from a certain period of time.
Perhaps the developers will eventually take a page out of Capcom’s book with Street Fighter 6 and release those official statistic breakdowns to the public at some point too.
