Tekken 8 is well into its first competitive season at this point with multiple majors going down in the game this weekend.
Many of the top players in the world have been split between the Esports World Cup Last Chance Qualifier and VSFighting 2024, which we’ve gone through and gathered the character stats for both big tournaments now in Tekken.
Starting out with those vying for the final four spots at the EWC, there were 20 mains in top 32 with only 9 repeats in total with some usual standouts like Dragunov and Feng though Victor was right up there with them.
As for widening out the scope to double the pool, we saw 29 mains and 17 repeats in top 64.
The characters who saw the biggest boost from top 64 were King, Azucena, Dragunov, Feng and Alisa.
Only 4 fighters who didn’t seem to show up at all, which were Lidia, Kazuya, Leroy and Panda.
Looking at the top 8, there were 5 characters who appeared as main picks with Dragunov, Claudio and Shaheen each being used twice while Victor and Yoshimitsu showed up once.
With 234 entrants signed up for the LCQ, this top 64 represents the best 27% of those who were trying to stay in the race for the big prizes.

As for VSFighting being a Master Event for the Tekken World Tour, we saw 19 mains in top 32 with only seven repeats though it skewed a bit more at the top with Dragunov, Claudio, Law, Leo and even Yoshimitsu.
Top 64 had a whopping 30 mains as well with 20 repeats in total with a bunch of characters being right behind the top 2.
Those who were bumped up the most were of course Dragunov, but also Reina, Lili, Lidia, King, Feng, Devil Jin and Lee.
The only 4 characters who didn’t see main play were Jun, Panda, Raven and Zafina, so the only carry over between the events were Panda and Zafina.
Although their top 8 hasn’t happened just yet, we can see the lineup as it stands now also has 5 characters on main display with Dragunov, Law and Jin being there twice each while Asuka and Kazuya were picked by one player each.
Since there’s over 440 signed up for Tekken at VSFighting, this top 64 showcases the strongest 14.5% of competitors who went to the United Kingdom this week.
