It’s been a solid month since Tekken 8 was released. The reviews for Tekken 8 have been stellar, including with our own review where we gave the game a rating of 9.2 out of 10.
As reported on by the official Tekken Twitter account, Tekken 8 has now surpassed 2 million sales worldwide. Due to this, Bandai Namco has thanked players for their continued support.
“Thank you to all the players who have been duking it out in Tekken 8,” said the Tweet. “The King of Iron Fist tournament will keep on growing with new exciting updates, the start of the Tekken World Tour 2024 and so much more.”
It’s certainly worth noting that Street Fighter 6 was also able to achieve 2 million sales after just one month after it was released. As such, Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 are currently keeping pace with one another in terms of success.
Should Tekken 8 maintain the same momentum as Street Fighter 6, we should expect them to sell around another million units in five months as it was reported that Street Fighter 6 had achieved 3 million sales after six months since its launch.
Similarly, it was also reported that Mortal Kombat 1 had sold nearly 3 million units back in November. Regardless of which game you’re more a fan of, this is certainly a promising sign for the fighting game community in general.
