After the Tekken version 5.00 patch was released, it was announced that a new patch, version 5.01, would be releasing on October 4 — today. It was noted ahead of time that balance adjustments were being made, so recorded replays from the previous version would cease to work after the update goes live.

Needless to say, version 5.01 patch notes have been released by Bandai Namco. Adjustments have been made for Law, King, Feng, Alisa, Claudio, Lucky Chloe, Akuma, Miguel, and Armor King.

Aside from those characters, there’s also a universal change that will have an impact on the entire cast. Indeed, the first patch note details how the homing performance has been improved for the side-roll ukemi option after taking a wall hit.

Of the characters that were changed, Law, King, and Armor King have been buffed. On the other hand, Feng and Akuma have received some minor nerfs.

Alisa, Claudio, Lucky Chloe, and Miguel are noted for only having bug fixes. Most of these bug fixes will reduce the frequency of unintended guaranteed hits that occurred in situations involving the wall crush mechanic.

• Side-roll ukemi after wall hit — Homing performance has been improved. Fixed where opponent’s attack from behind would land after an ukemi.

• During Rage: Down-Back, 4, 3+4 — It is now possible to perform the “Down-Back, 3+4” move during Rage / Dragon Charge. The attack startup has been changed from “26F” to “22F” only when launching a move from Dragon Charge. The attack startup was slow enough that the attack was often blocked after the attacker saw the move, making it an infrequently used Rage Drive.

• During Dragon Charge: 1, 4 — Bug fix. In certain situations, when a wall crush was triggered, there was a guaranteed hit from the opponent’s side or back.

• During Dragon Charge: Forward, 4 — Bug fix. In certain situations, when a wall crush was triggered, there was a guaranteed hit from the opponent’s side or back.

• Forward, Forward, Forward, 3 — Frame disadvantage when blocking has been changed from “+/-0F” to “+3F”. It was difficult to continue attacking when opponent blocked, so the frame advantage has been increased to make it easier to attack.

• Back, 1+2 — The hit box has been reduced when attacking downed opponents. When “Forward, Forward + 3” or “Back, 1+2” landed on some characters when they were in the air, “Back, 1+2” could be comboed into, but we have made it harder to hit a downed opponent.

• Back, 3+4, 2 — The behavior of the opponent on hit/counter-hit has been changed. The return was high because it was possible to confirm the opponent’s behavior before executing a move, so we have made it so that a follow-up attack is not confirmed on hit.

• Back, 3+4, 3 — Frame disadvantage when blocking has been changed from “-12F” to “-16F”. The frame disadvantage when blocking has been increased because it is possible to execute a move while confirming the opponent’s action, which lowers the risk.

• With her back turned to the opponent: Right, [3+4, 3+4] — Bug fix. In certain situations, when a wall crush was triggered, the attack was guaranteed from the opponent’s side or back.

• Forward, Forward, Forward, 3 — Recovery has been increased by 3F. There is no change to the frame disadvantage when blocking. Fixed a bug that caused “Down, 1” to be unavoidable for some characters during wall stun.

• During Savage Stance: 1+2 (Hold) — Bug fix. When Miguel absorbs an opponent’s attack and then forces opponent to block his attack, the behavior was not as intended.

• During Rage: Forward, Reset to Neutral, Down, Down-Forward, 1+2 (Hold) — The distance from the opponent on hit has been made closer. Depending on the distance at the time of the hit, the throw would sometimes not reach the opponent.
