Teen Sisters Dead Following Drowning Incident in Waters Off Coney Island Beach – BROOKLYN

July 06, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – A pair of teenage sisters drowned in waters off Coney Island Beach Friday evening after the two reportedly went back into the ocean as beach goers ran for cover from an approaching rain storm, cops said.

According to police, the sisters, ages 17 and 18, went back into the water at around 8:00 p.m., and were missing for a little over an hour.

Their bodies washed up on the shoreline during search and rescue efforts just after 9:00 p.m., police said.

FDNY and Police rushed the teens to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition but pair did not survive and were pronounced deceased, police officials said.

The drowning incident was reported at Stillwell Avenue near the boardwalk where a quick response was made in an effort to locate the teen girls.
