April 09, 2024 QUEENS, New York – A 16-year-old boy was shot multiple times in broad daylight on a street in the Rockaways on Tuesday afternoon, cops said.
The injured teen was stable when transported to Cohen Children’s Medical Center but worsened after going into cardiac arrest and was last listed in critical condition.
The injured teen was wounded by gunfire at around 1:30 p.m., struck in the groin area and left wrist on Dickens Street near Mott Avenue in Queens.
Detectives are working to determine if the seriously injured teen was targeted. No arrests have been made, however police are said to be searching for a teen suspect that is known to officers.
Just the evening before, an 11-year-old boy was shot in the left forearm inside a Brooklyn NYCHA building late Monday evening, police said.
The young boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police were told by the injured child that he was shot by an unknown male wearing a hood outside of the building.
However investigators believe the young boy was shot inside after following a blood trail back upstairs to an apartment on the third floor of the Brownsville Houses building on Howard Avenue near Atlantic Avenue, police said.
The investigations into the both separate shooting incidents is ongoing.
