Tarek El Moussa spent years amassing wealth. His strategy? He’d buy the most dilapidated houses he could find and transform them into dream homes. However, his most impressive transformation isn’t a house. It’s his life.
El Moussa’s life took a turn for the worse when he was hit with a triple whammy of health issues. He was battling thyroid and testicular cancer, and then he injured his back. “I was a mess for quite a few years,” he confessed to E! News’ Francesca Amiker.
His hormones were all over the place. Anxiety, panic attacks, and depression were part of his daily life. Then came the opiates. “I was on Percocet, Dilaudid, Vicodin for about a year,” he revealed. These were prescribed for his back injury, but they caused him to lose a staggering 75 pounds. “You could see the bones in my chest,” he added.
El Moussa was desperate for a solution to his health problems. He started taking testosterone injections. But, alas, that was the final straw. “I did not react well to the testosterone,” he said. His hormones were in chaos due to his absent thyroid.
The result? “In 2016 my life imploded,” he concluded.
