Tanya and Motaro player pulls off a sick game ending combo but loses mid animation anyway in Mortal Kombat 1

An interesting clip from RevetLeafingFGC was recently posted regarding a match that happened in Mortal Kombat 1. Initially, it would appear that RevetLeafingFGC, the Tanya and Motaro player in the clip, was about to make an amazing comeback.

The Tanya user opted for a combo that cancelled into a Fatal Blow in hopes of finishing off the last 23% life from Scorpion. Unfortunately, Mortal Kombat 1 is the type of game in which shenanigans are bound to happen.

The Fatal Blow was successful in hitting the opponent. It’s worth noting that the Tanya player opted to use Motaro’s Fatal Blow starter since it’s a little faster than most characters’ normal Fatal Blows.

By this point in the combo, Scorpion only had 229 hit points remaining. After it was all said and done, an additional 272 points of damage were tacked on the combo counter.

However, Scorpion did not lose a single point of health beyond this point. During the animation for Motaro’s Fatal Blow starter, time had run out. Part way through the combo, the words “Scorpion wins” appeared on screen.

While the idea of losing during the super animation is something that we’ve seen being intentionally part of fighting games, successfully hitting with a Fatal Blow is supposed to pause the timer. For some reason, it didn’t this time, resulting in Tanya spontaneously falling over after the animation of her shattering Scorpion’s skull had played out.

Ultimately, this is not intended and will likely be fixed in a future update. Check it out below:
