Mortal Kombat 1 is quickly approaching the end of its first Kombat Pack, and now fans know when the initial run of content for the game is going to conclude.
NetherRealm Studios just announced that Ferra’s Kameo release date has been delayed for MK1 while at the same time revealing when Takeda is going to launch as the next DLC character.
Although Ferra was scheduled for a June release to follow up on The Boys’ Homelander, the developers have decided she needs a bit more time to polish and refine her tools.
The new plan is to open her cage on July 23.
This is confirmed to coincide with Takeda Takahashi’s early access launch for Kombat Pack owners too, which had not been stated before.
It also means the last bit of announced DLC will be dropping the week after Evo 2024, so if there’s a Kombat Pack 2 and future plans for MK1, there’s a good chance we’ll be learning more about them before / after the game’s finals at the event which runs from July 19–21.
Pushing back Ferra’s release isn’t too surprising and seems like the smart approach after the last update introduced some issues like Homelander’s infinite blockstring and Cyrax’s Kameo inadvertently got restored to his former glory.
The developers did say a fix for the problems would be coming shortly after Final Kombat this past weekend though there’s been no more information there yet.
Takeda had only appeared as a playable fighter in Mortal Kombat X where he became a fast fan favorite among the “Kombat Kids” in the new generation of characters, but he was left on the sidelines for the last two games until now.
In the previous timeline, he was trained by the freshly revived Hanzo Hasashi where he fought with energy weapons and bladed whips on his arms along with some of his father’s telekinesis.
According to some previously leaked pre-fight dialogue, it doesn’t sound as though Takeda is Kenshi’s son anymore in Liu Kang’s new world though they are still related through the Takahashi clan.
You can check out the full statement from the developers below.
Before we can release Ferra as our next Kameo Fighter, we need a bit more time to make sure she can assist to the best of her abilities. Ferra will now be available alongside Takeda’s early access release on July 23. We thank you for your patience and will keep you updated.
