During the attack, a young man identified as Murtala, a tailor by profession, was killed during the attack.
Suspected thugs have attacked a vigilantes’ outpost in the Kpakungu area of Minna, Niger State capital, leaving several vigilantes injured.
The incident occurred at about 10-11 pm on Sunday, 29 December 2024, at the Kpakungu roundabout.
SaharaReporters gathered that the assailants overpowered the vigilantes, injuring several of them and reportedly carting away their mobile phones.
During the attack, a young man identified as Murtala, a tailor by profession, was killed during the attack.
Confirming the incident, Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that 25-year-old tailor, Murtala Hassan, was fatally stabbed while trying to separate miscreants involved in a fight at the Barkin-Sale area.
He added that police operatives arrived at 11:00 pm, evacuated the body, and arrested one Ali Sale in connection with the crime.
Investigations are ongoing, with efforts to apprehend other suspects.
“On 29/12/2024 at about 2300hrs, information was received that some miscreants engaged in a fight at Barkin-Sale area of Minna during an occasion and as a result, one Murtala Hassan 25yrs was stabbed dead at the back during an effort to separate the miscreants,” a police statement read.
