A suspected thief identified as Hashiru d!ed after scaling through a fence to steal a motorcycle in the Kango community, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A witness, Usman Ibrahim, who spoke to Daily Trust said the incident happened around 11:12 pm on Wednesday, January 1, when the suspect jumped through the fence of one Isaac Ishaku’s house to steal a motorcycle inside the compound on Wednesday.
After jumping into the compound, he said the suspect went straight to where a brand new motorcycle was parked and a dog inside the compound raised the alarm.
“It is in the process that he tried to escape and went to jump through the fence, he fell from the fence and hit his head on a big stone he used as a ladder to climb the fence,” he said.
He said the suspect, who sustained deep injuries on his head, died while being rushed to a nearby clinic in the area by some vigilantes who arrived in the area.
A member of the vigilante who preferred anonymity confirmed the incident, saying the deceased was a notorious bike thief who had been arrested severally for stealing bikes in the area.
He said the remains of the deceased suspect had been handed over to their relatives at neighbouring Kusaki village.
