Suspected Fulani herdsmen kill 7 in Agatu area of Benue State

No fewer than seven persons have been feared killed in a renewed hostilities between Fulani herdsmen and Agatu farmers in Benue last Sunday.

Daily Sun news men gathered from sources that the herders invaded some communities in the riverine Agatu area at about 10am that Sunday and continued fighting until late into the night.
Running mate to the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Hon. John Ngbede, a native of Agatu told our correspondent that there was heavy fighting in the area which led to the death of seven people while several houses and farmlands were destroyed.

But when contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Moses Yamu, an ASP said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
Efforts to also speak with the Zonal Coordinator of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Abreeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Garus Gololo failed as several calls made to his GSM line was neither answered nor returned.

Recall that incidents of Fulani invasion on Agatu and other parts of Benue have continued to be a recurring decimal with heavy human and material casualties until the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, on assumption of office, extended amnesty to as many as were ready to surrender their arms.
