Suspected Fulani Bandits kidnap Ex-Calabar South Councillor

A former Councillor in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon. Anthony Duke has been allegedly kidnapped by a group of suspected Fulani bandits.

THE PARADISE NEWS gathered that Hon. Duke was kidnapped on Tuesday evening along Akwanga road in Nasarawa state while on his way to Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Accordingly, the ex-Councillor was said to have left Calabar to Abuja in a private vehicle where the unfortunate incident happened.

According to THE PARCHMENT, he was kidnapped by suspected Fulani bandits.

“His abductors are yet to establish contacts with his family members as at press time”, the report said.

Meanwhile, a close relative to Hon. Duke said: ” The terrible news of Honourable Tony Duke’s kidnap reached us last night. Everything is being done to secure his release ASAP. Please keep him in your prayers. Let’s be calm and focus our energies on his release. Anyone who has useful information can forward it to me”.

Efforts from THE PARADISE NEWS to reach Hon. Duke through his phone line proved abortive as his phone number was switched off at the time of filing this report.

Hon. Duke is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and the CEO of Calabar Blue Marathon.

He is also a broadcast journalist with FAD 93.1 FM Calabar.
