January 13, 2025 STATEN ISLAND, New York – A woman surrendered to police in connection with the stabbing death of a 43-year-old mother whose family became intertwined in social media tensions that escalated to violence.
Jasmin Thompson, 25, was charged in connection with the death of Jennira Roundtree who was stabbed multiple times in the chest during a massive brawl outside of the NYCHA building she lived at.
Thompson was charged with second degree murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
She was seen in handcuffs escorted by NYPD Detectives out of the 120 Precinct stationhouse in St. George to a waiting jail transport vehicle on Monday afternoon.
Allegedly a large fight broke out involving a group of around 20 teen girls along with an adult woman believed to be Thompson and Roundtree’s 12-year-old daughter.
Roundtree quickly came to the defense of her young child and during the physical altercation was stabbed multiple times.
The 43-year-old was found on the ground and seriously wounded outside one of the NYCHA West Brighton Houses buildings.
The mother of four was rushed by EMS to Richmond University Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
