Suspect accused of killing 2 in Las Vegas found dead

LAS VEGAS (TCD) — A 36-year-old man accused of killing two people within five days this month reportedly took his own life.

According to a news release form the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at around 5:13 p.m., officers received a report of an unresponsive woman at a home in the 11000 block of Andorra Street. Police found the victim, identified by KLAS-TV as Jessica Russo, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a separate incident, on Sunday, Feb. 25, police responded to reports of gunfire in the 7000 block of North Hualapai Way. Responding officers reportedly found a man, 44-year-old John Brortiak Jr., suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified Mark Ford as the primary suspect in both shootings and noted the two victims knew each other.

According to KVVU-TV, Ford was found dead Sunday, Feb. 25 from self-inflicted injuries.
