The Presidential candidate Of The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded elections, Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Independent And National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Supreme Court of legitimizing theft, forgery, identity theft, and perjury.
Atiku made the accusation on Monday, in a press conference held in Abuja.
He noted that although being the apex court of the land, the Supreme Court had corruptly predetermined election outcomes, hence leading the nation into doom.
Atiku also said that the current Nigeria President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had forged his educational certificates, in which INEC had committed a crime by allowing Tinubu to contest for the office of the president.
"Someone asked me what I would do if I lost my election petition appeal at the Supreme Court. In response, I said that as long as Nigeria won, the struggle would have been worthwhile. By that, I meant that the bigger loss would not be mine but Nigeria’s if the Supreme Court legitimizes illegality, including forgery, identity theft, and perjury.
"If the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, implies by its judgment that crime is good and should be rewarded, then Nigeria has lost and the country is doomed irrespective of who occupies the Presidential seat. If the Supreme Court decides that the Electoral umpire, INEC, can tell the public one thing and then do something else to reach a corruptly predetermined outcome, then there is no hope for the country’s democracy and electoral politics.
"It is about the reputation of Nigeria and Nigerians in the eyes of the world. We showed incontrovertible evidence that Bola A. Tinubu was not qualified to contest the Presidential Election because he forged the qualifying academic certificate, which he submitted to INEC. A simple check of Tinubu’s records in its possession would have shown INEC that Tinubu broke the law and should not have been allowed to contest the election.
"We showed irrefutable evidence of gross irregularities, violence, and manipulations during the elections. We showed incontrovertible evidence that INEC violated the Electoral Act and deliberately sabotaged its own publicly announced processes and procedures to illegally declare Tinubu elected. The position of the Supreme Court, even though final, leaves so much unanswered"- He said
Atiku Abubakar a former Vice president of Nigeria, six (6) times unsuccessful contestants for the Nigeria presidency, and presidential flag bearer of the PDP had lost his presidential bid to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress in the 2023 general elections.
He had approached the US court for the Northern District of Illinois, to overrule President Bola Tinubu’s objections to the release of his academic records.
