RESPONSIBILITIES
Business/Functional Management
Ensure operational execution in their section aligns to
Organizational direction, as provided by senior superintendent
Execute operation for their section to support effective delivery of the project, in support of sustainability of the broader business.
Financial, commercial & contract Management
Monitor and control the cost of material and equipment and recommend and implement cost effective solution and proposal for the intended project.
Compare plant and labor cost against budget
Complete all financial reporting requirement and administration
Risk management & compliance. Incl. ESG responsibility
Ensure all financial, technical and operational risk and opportunities relating to their area of responsibility are identified and mitigating actions implemented and monitored; as well as aligning all stakeholders as is relevant, for their area of responsibility; elevate risks as appropriate
Ensure strict compliances to SHEQ policies, procedures and legislation, to ensure the company’s responsibility is met.
Stakeholder Management (internal/external)
Ensure professional interaction with client and stakeholders, at junior to middle management level.
Engage with peers and seniors on the project in support of management alignment towards achievement of project objectives.
Operations & Project Management
Supply technical input where necessary and possible
Supply information when direct liaison with the client or management is required
Carry out work-study exercises and investigate alternative methods
Management Operating System & Reporting
Put appropriate control in place at point of execution, to
Inform management information, and to take corrective action immediately if there are deviation to plan
Technical management
Responsible for setting and adherence to technical
Standards and work methods, for their section, in accordance with organizational and client requirements policies, procedure and legislation.
SHEQ Management
Responsible for setting and adherence to technical
Standards and work methods, for their section in accordance with organizational and client requirements, policies and legislation.
Staff Management
Ensure that labors on site are kept informed of any issue that may concern them, e.g retrenchment, paid/unpaid public holidays, transport etc, by attending regular meetings with labor representatives.
Culture & Climate
Ensure a positive work environment is maintained for all
Internal and subcontracting stuff on site.
Requirements
Qualification
National diploma in civil or mining/ metallurgical/ industrial engineering or equivalent
BTech in civil or mining/ metallurgical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
Experience
At least 2 to 3 years tailings deposition experience working in a mining/ tailing's environment
At least 1 – 2 years in a supervisory capacity preferable, or the monitoring and controlling of production activities.
Skills, Qualities and Abilities Required
Solid understanding of the mining industry with specific emphasis on tailings business
Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to tailings business.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical and operational aspects core to the tailings industry, first time supervision – management and application.
