The paid protest against the federal government in support of the super highway seems to have failed to create the needed impact. This is so because of the security report to the presidency by security agencies, IG, DSS, stakeholders, and both national and local NGOs.
In a desperate move, the governor has summoned the federal legislators to appear before the state EXCO for their nonchalant attitudes towards the super high way. It is to be recalled that most federal legislators were left out during the ward congresses and this has moved many away from Ayade's signature projects. Their nonchalant attitude must have informed the governors last moves to summon them.
The failed stage managed protest canvassed by the governor through the office of the Commissioners for Women Affairs, and Youth and Sports and led by the Youth Council State president Comrade Ndiyo could not make much impact. This is so because it was stage managed with protesters drawn from UNICAL, CRUTECH, and Health Technology students. Available information has it that the protesters were paid a paltry sum ranging from 1000 to 500 naira only by the state government yet the impact was nothing to write home about.
Come to think of it, is crowd for the protest to be paid or borne out of agitations?
Can a government that neglect federal legislators compel them into support for a non realizable project?
Who was consulted before the Super high way project was initiated? Not even stakeholders, nor expert or the state and federal legislators were consulted.
Can the governor compel the federal government into a project that is lacking in due process?
Can a government that cannot meet up with payment of CUDA staff muster the finance for super high way and deap sea port?
Below are some pictures and posters used by the protesters.
