Nigerian football legends Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi have begun training with Kano Pillars, fueling anticipation of their return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side for the 2024/25 season.
Musa, 31, is embarking on his third spell with Pillars, having previously featured for the team between 2009 and 2010, and briefly again in 2021. Abdullahi, on the other hand, last played for Pillars in 2012.
The two Super Eagles stars were seen at Pillars’ training ground, preparing for the club’s upcoming match-day five home fixture against Sunshine Stars on Sunday.
Despite the closure of the NPFL 2024/25 summer transfer window, Musa and Abdullahi are eligible to sign with the club as free agents.

Reigning NPFL champions, Rangers International, had shown interest in Musa before he opted to return to his former club.
Musa’s journey began at GBS Football Academy and Kano Pillars before moving to Dutch side VVV-Venlo in 2010.
His career highlights include winning two Russian Premier League titles, a Nigerian Premier League title, a Russian Cup, a Saudi Pro League title, and a Saudi Super Cup.
Abdullahi’s career has also been filled with notable achievements, starting at Plateau United before moving to Kano Pillars in 2011.
He has had successful stints at Étoile du Sahel, União da Madeira, Ankaraspor, Bursaspor, Omonia Nicosia, and Al-Kuwait.
Their anticipated return to Kano Pillars is expected to strengthen the club’s squad and boost their chances in the ongoing NPFL season.
Musa and Abdullahi’s experience and skill will undoubtedly benefit the team, particularly in crucial matches like the upcoming encounter against Sunshine Stars.
