Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has announced the heartbreaking loss of his mother on social media, just weeks after the death of his father.
Nwabali, who gained widespread recognition at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations by becoming Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, had a standout performance in the tournament, keeping five clean sheets and helping his team advance through the competition.
His rise continued with 13 appearances for the Super Eagles.

However, the past two months have brought unimaginable pain for the 27-year-old. In November, during the international break, Nwabali tragically lost his father while representing Nigeria in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers against Rwanda and Benin. He played in the match against Benin before being granted leave to be with his family.
