Sunday accident in Carolina community results in power outage

Traffic on Hwy. 137 through the Carolina community was detoured Sunday night after a vehicle accident resulted in downed power lines.
According to the Carolina Volunteer Fire Department, the accident occurred at approximately 5:55 p.m. A vehicle left the roadway and struck a power pole resulting in the downed power lines along Hwy. 137 and Hwy. 29. No injuries were reported.
Carolina firefighters responded with a fire engine and a fire brush truck. Along with Carolina responders, the Wing Volunteer Fire Department and Covington Electric responded and assisted to change poles and restore power. Alabama Department of Transportation also responded to the scene. Carolina officials remained at the scene until Covington Electric completed the repairs. Carolina units were back in service at approximately 10:25 p.m.
