After a successful loan spell at Spanish outfit Getafe, Mason Greenwood has confirmed his return to Manchester United, with the final match of the LA Liga on Sunday.
Having been on loan in Spain for the full season since deadline day last August, Greenwood has made 36 appearances for Getafe, scoring ten goals across all competitions.
Greenwood’s move to Getafe came on the back of his suspension by United in January 2022 following allegations of attempted rape, assault and coercive and controlling behaviour.
Earlier last ween news broke via The Sun that the 22-year-old had put his £2 million mansion up for rent valuing at £14,000 per week. This sparked speculation that Greenwood was looking to move away from United permanently.
Reports from Manchester Evenign News suggest that Getafe are putting hints out to their desire to retain Greenwood and move him to Spain permanently.
Posting on X on Monday morning, the Spanish club posted a picture of the winger waving to fans with the caption “See you SOON, blues”.
This could be suggesting towards Greenwood returning to the club in the future, however whether Getafe could afford signing him permanently is unknown at this time.
