But, at 36, was feeling it a bit towards the end of the Reds’ win!

Milner, who started in central midfield before moving to right-back due to an injury to Joe Gomez, has been a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad over the last few years, filling in in numerous positions.

This season he has made 37 appearances for the Reds, meaning he has now played close to 300 games for the Merseysiders.

His manager recently stated that none of the success and trophies they’ve won would have happened without Milner, whilst praising his incredible fitness.

Asked if he had met a fitter 36-year-old, Klopp said: “No, but it would be interesting to look at Luka Modric – obviously, a good generation!

“It’s difficult to be fitter than Milly and he’s a role model.

“I told him and I can tell the whole world: Nothing we would have achieved in the last few years would have happened without James Milner, if he’s on the pitch or not.”

And one of those who undoubtedly looks up to Milner is 19-year-old Harvey Elliott, who started alongside Milner in midfield.

Remarkably, Milner made his Premier League debut for Leeds United before the youngster was even born!

A full 145 days before the former Fulham wonderkid had even taken his first breath, Milner came on for his boyhood club against West Ham United – making him the second-youngest player ever to play in the Premier League, at the time.

Many years later, Elliott bettered Milner when he became the youngest-ever Premier League player at 16 years and 30 days old when he made his debut at Craven Cottage, before signing for the Reds.

Milner is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, but reports have stated he is set to get a one-year contract extension and stay at Anfield for another season.

Will this man ever stop playing football?!
