Career coaches across Region 6 are collaborating with Southeast Alabama Works to host a regional resume contest. A panel of judges selected one academic-based resume winner and one work-based resume winner from each school.
In Covington County, each school’s academic-based resume winner received a $100 scholarship from CCB Community Bank. The recipients were: Amelia Barnes, Red Level School; Callie Pybus, Florala High School; Addison Keigans, Pleasant Home School; Destiny Windham, Straughn High School; Ada Blackstock, Opp High School; and Olivia Cravey, Andalusia High School.
Each school’s work-based resume winner was awarded a $100 scholarship from Wyatt Sasser Construction. These winners were: Victoria Walker, Red Level School; Brody Cox, Florala High School; Nathan Hobbs, Pleasant Home School; Audrey Ward, Straughn High School; Haylee Booth, Opp High School; and Cade Cassady, Andalusia High School.
From these winners, one overall county-wide winner will be selected and awarded a $250 scholarship at the regional competition in April. The student who earns this distinction and advances to the regional competition in Troy will be able to compete for a $1,000 scholarship. These two scholarships are sponsored by PowerSouth and their member cooperatives.
“Thanks to the generous support of Wyatt Sasser Construction and CCB Community Bank for providing the monetary prizes for the school winners, as well as Mizell Memorial Hospital for sponsoring the school winner recognition luncheon that will come later this year. We are grateful for their investment in education and their dedication to developing the future workforce,” CCS Career Coach Kelsi Scruggs said.
