Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out for the Nintendo Entertainment System proved to be quite the challenge back when it was released in October 1987. Despite being the underdog embodiment, Little Mac, the player character, would prevail even against Mike Tyson himself as the final boss.
How would Street Fighter’s Ryu fare against Mike Tyson in a boxing match? It would seem that PlasticAction sought an answer to this question with one of his recent video uploads.
Essentially, an action figure of Ryu is seen having a Punch-Out themed boxing match against a toy of Mike Tyson. This proves to be an impressively well-made stop motion video.
Looking closely, Ken, Cammy, Sagat, Chun-Li, Blanka, Vega, R. Mika, Fei Long, and M. Bison can be seen watching along with the audience. It would appear that the Street Fighter cast came out to cheer on Ryu in his match against Mike Tyson, who actually has a character based on him within the Street Fighter universe.
Upon collecting a star from dodging enough and landing enough blows against Mike Tyson, Ryu is able to collect a star, just like how Little Mac does in the Punch-Out series. At the first opportunity, Ryu decides to cash in the star for a Dragon Punch, which quickly downs Mike Tyson.
However, the fight isn’t over yet. Those familiar with Punch-Out know that the Mike Tyson’s punches have the capacity to down the player in just one hit. Check it all out below:
