Street Fighter 6's new update apparently bugged Zangief to give him an inadvertent buff

Although there’s no new character, Street Fighter 6 did receive a pretty significant update today that added in Outfit 3 as DLC for the launch roster, but that’s not all.

Players also quickly discovered that the latest patch appears to have bugged Zangief in a way that technically gives him a notable yet inadvertent buff.

As shared by JustWake_ on X (formerly Twitter), Zangief’s Super Art 2 had its recovery cut down by over four times what it’s supposed to be.

According to the official frame data, the big-bodied wrestler is listed as being -35 on block, which should leave him open to getting counter hit by pretty much anything.

Right now, however, Cyclone Lariat is -8 on block, but this only appears to apply to the uncharged version of the Super from our testing with the charged version remaining -35.

There’s no mention at all for Zangief in the new patch notes, so it’s almost definitely a glitch / oversight.

One bug buff like this isn’t going to make Zangief rocket up the tier lists since it is still punishable at most ranges though it seems the most you’ll get is a medium combo starter instead of the full heavy like basically any other blocked Super attack in the game — so remember that for the time being.

Some Zangief players are trying to claim that “he needs this”, but Capcom will likely release a fix for it in the near future.

And an update for that will certainly come before they put out a “fix” for their annoying pricing model for Outfit 3.
