Street Fighter 6 is celebrating its one-year-anniversary this week having initially launched on June 2, 2023. In honor of this milestone, Capcom is holding a number of different festivities, both in-game and out, to not just give back to those who have supported the game in its first year, but also to have some good, old fashioned Street Fighter fun.
One of the aforementioned festivities comes to us in the form of an art contest that encourages artists everywhere to create their own unique “New Challenger” screen artwork. 20 submissions will ultimately be chosen, and there are already some really great entries that you have to see.
After running across maybe 50+ entries posted over on Twitter, I saw all kinds of art pieces that range from sexy and/or bad ass to hilariously on-point memes.
Capcom notes that they will be choosing 20 artworks to be added to the in-game “new challenger” screen — the one you see before a ranked or casual match begins — based on a handful of different criteria. “The Street Fighter 6 development team will carefully review all submissions and choose 20 winning pieces based on originality, creativity, and ‘wow’ factor!” says the official contest rules page.
Fortunately, all 20 of the winning pieces will be “gifted” to everyone who plays Street Fighter 6, which sounds a lot like these won’t be paid content items and should be free of charge.
We have included several of our favorite entries so far in the gallery below, and there are some truly top notch new challenger screen art pieces to behold here.
The first artwork we have comes from the mind of artist Benalki and depicts a sexy bed-headed Cammy who looks like she just rolled out of bed and is not happy to have to start her day.
My personal favorite of this batch, though, is the new challenger screen for JP from K’ z that just sees his feet emerging from one of his portals. This is obviously a reference to the very common tactic JP players often use of putting a portal on screen, then surprising the opponent with a teleport and coming down with a big jumping heavy kick to catch their foe by surprise.
There are a ton of great entries for this Street Fighter 6 contest, but be sure to peep the ones we have for you below before visiting each artist’s page and looking over the rest of their awesome work.
