Street Fighter 6 players can buy DLC characters, costumes and more using Fighter Coins according to new Chipotle promotion
Fight Money it is not though
The demo and betas for Street Fighter 6 have given players a taste of what the in-game economy will be like for the new title, but we’ve yet to see the full scope of what it’s ultimately going to look like.
It seems we do now know, however, that players will be able to purchase DLC characters and additional costumes in SF6 through Fighter Coins according to their new promotion with Chipotle.
Starting June 2, users who make an online Chipotle order with the promo code HDKN236 will receive a code for 250 Fighter Coins — except for the PC version of SF6 for some reason.
According to their press release, Fighter Coins can be used to purchase characters, character costumes, alternative costume colors, stages, stamps, avatar gear and avatar emotes.
Fighter Coins do not seem to be the same as Street Fighter 5’s Fight Money, however, as these are said to be premium in-game currency — similar to the last game’s scrapped Zenny system.
Capcom hasn’t announced the prices of how much Fighter Coins will cost or how much the new characters and content will be priced at, so we’ll probably have to wait until the game releases to learn more (and whether or not there’s going to be any way to earn them in-game).
Street Fighter 6 does offer another type of currency in the form of Drive Tickets that can be earned through completing in-game missions and other objectives too.
As to what we’ll be able to buy with Drive Tickets beyond avatar customization items remains to be seen too.
Chipotle is also going to be running a special promotion through Twitch when SF6 launches, giving out 500,000 free chips and guac to Chipotle Rewards members who watch at least 1 hour of live streams in the game.
Meanwhile, the 250 Fighter Coins will be limited to 20,000 codes only.
We’re keenly interested to see how the monetization for SF6 is going to shake out though we probably won’t know the full scope of things until the game launches on just over a week on June 2, 2023.
