Street Fighter 6 is rapidly approaching its first anniversary since launch last June, and we don’t quite yet know just how different the game is going to be going into year two.
There is at least one highly-requested feature, however, that appears as though it may be finally coming to SF6 very soon.
The official Street Fighter PR X/Twitter page reportedly leaked something with a few screenshots likely earlier than intended because it was later taken down.
That something appears to be a much more expanded jukebox / music player in SF6, which the game has been lacking in thus far with players requesting more since launch.
According to the alleged screenshots, SF6 will be receiving a Character BGM selection option that allows users to select specific tracks and / or create playlists to use during matches.
It’s not immediately clear if the music settings are just for the character a player is facing or who they’re controlling too, but either way this hasn’t been possible in SF6 (without doing something like modding the game).
The text at the bottom of the Character BGM appears to translate to “You can select your favorite songs for each character and add them to the list or edit the list you have created. The created list can be played as background music.”
As things currently stand in the game, the music player is very limited in where it can be used since the feature can only be accessed when walking around the Battle Hub, World Tour or sitting in Training Mode.
Players don’t have full control over what music plays during actual matches since Battle Settings and stage select only has options for random, stage, player 1 or player 2 themes.
Capcom has been adding more music to the game via the Fighting Pass offerings every month in the premium rewards, which hadn’t served much of a use up to this point, so that may become more enticing to players moving forward if that ends up being the case.
It’s also not entirely clear if the music player will be available for online matches as well as offline, but we presume it likely will.
The expanded jukebox is reportedly slated to come to the game alongside Akuma and the Season 2 balance update on May 22.
Take this with a grain of salt, however, since the original post was allegedly deleted and hasn’t been officially confirmed by Capcom yet, but we should be hearing more very soon.
