Street Fighter 6 is undergoing server maintenance this coming Monday but it very likely won't add Ed like people are hoping

It’s a new year, which means new content for Street Fighter 6 is on the horizon. A lot of folks are currently waiting to hear even a little something about Ed, the game’s third DLC character, as he is expected to release here in the early year winter months.

As luck would have it, Capcom has announced that Street Fighter 6 will be undergoing server maintenance this coming Monday, and fans know that server maintenance is often done to make way for new content. While that will be the case in this scenario, unfortunately, those hoping it will be Ed are very likely going to be disappointed.

“Street Fighter 6 will undergo maintenance on 1/8 at 9PM PT until midnight,” wrote the official Street Fighter Twitter account. “Thank you for your patience!”

Capcom did not divulge what all will be added to the game after this server maintenance runs its course, but we have a pretty good idea of what it will be. As it stands right now, we have not seen any gameplay footage of Ed in any way, nor have we heard any word on when his gameplay trailer might be dropping.

What we do know, though, is that Street Fighter 6 is gearing up for a new collaboration with another manga/anime series in honor of the recently released film, Spy x Family Code: White. Starting on January 9, the game will see the start of its official crossover with the Spy x Family series.

Early last month, Capcom announced that Street Fighter 6 would be crossing paths with the humorous spy series. They released a slick animation along with the announcement that saw Yor Forger clashing with Chun-Li as they engage in a good, old fashioned street fight on the game’s Nayshall stage.

Interestingly enough, Capcom has not yet revealed what items and content will actually be a part of this collaboration. Based on the game’s previous collaboration with another anime series, Baki the Grappler, at the very least we can expect new titles and avatar gear.

What fans are really hoping for — and it would be the most logical thing for Capcom to do — is a new outfit for Chun-Li that allows her to dress like Yor Forger. With that being said, Capcom has been incredibly slow and reserved with releasing costumes for the actual playable characters on the game’s roster, with only one set of additional outfits having been released over the span of the seven months that the game has been available.

The Buckler’s Boot Camp website has released a post that details the upcoming server maintenance. You can find the information below.
