The good guys over at FightingGameSelect were recently able to score an interview with Evo 2013 champion and Capcom Cup regular GG|Xian to talk about the updated state of Street Fighter 6.
The game got its first notable balance update in late February in which a handful of characters were adjusted, but Xian doesn’t feel like all that much has changed. That said, he’s got a few ideas for the inevitable additional balance patch that’s coming later this year, and some of them are a little intense.
When it comes to the three top tiers who were nerfed, (Ken, Luke, and JP) Xian doesn’t feel like any of the changes were very meaningful. Even JP, who was clearly the biggest loser of the bunch, can still do everything he used to, according to the Singaporean competitor.
When host Kizzie Kay asks what kinds of changes the game needs, Xian goes to a place not often explored in conversations like these: burn out.
“I want burnout to be longer… or forever,” he says. “If you make the burnout timing times two, you’d enjoy the game a lot more… every character would be scared to use Drive meter recklessly.”
Such a massive change sounds daunting at first, but the pair discuss how certain characters tend to benefit from burnout more than others, and that some are simply able to abuse Drive meter usage in a way that makes them naturally more oppressive than their roster mates.
Xian also speak on Perfect Parry, who the top tiers are now after the patch, and more in the full video here:
