Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama reveals never-before-seen Akuma concept art

Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama dropped an interesting Tweet recently promoting the Capcom Vs. Osamu Tezuka Characters art exhibit. According to him, there are some early designs for Street Fighter 6 characters that are also on display.

Normally, the exhibit features Capcom characters drawn by members of Tezuka Productions and Osamu Tezuka characters drawn by Capcom artists. However, the Akuma artwork posted on Nakayama’s social media is very clearly in the Street Fighter 6 style.

It’s certainly interesting to note that the Akuma concept art featured here was not included in the previous batch of Akuma concept art that we reported on back in May.

Additionally, the new concept art doesn’t seem similar to the artwork that was released for Akuma and Ed’s Outfit 3 concepts. In other words, these appear to be design that we haven’t seen before.

The first new concept has Akuma’s hair looking a lot more tame compared to how it is in Street Fighter 5 and Street Fighter 6, though he also has a goatee. Instead of grey hair, Akuma still has red hair in these shots.

As for the next concept, Akuma appears to be wearing a fur vest. This is very similar to the final design for Akuma in Street Fighter 6, though the fur part of Akuma’s outfit ended up getting wrapped around his neck instead.

Finally, there’s a concept of a bare-chested Akuma showcasing a lot of scratches and scars throughout his body. Check it all out below:
