Street Fighter 6 Director shares funny story behind Dee Jay's sparkling Outfit 3 suit design

Dee Jay’s never looked better than when they gave the dude a massive glow up for his Street Fighter 6 default design, but his latest look is givng that costume a run for its money.

Every day, Capcom is sharing special messages from SF6 Director Takayuki Nakayama regarding the new Outfit 3 designs coming to the game this week, and the latest is a pretty funny little story for the pop star.

According to the director, the man who never stops dancing, swaying and having a good time could have looked something like this for his default in the new game, but things didn’t exactly go that way.

“One of the first Dee Jay designs was him wearing a suit, but it was rejected,” said Nakayama. “To get sweet revenge, I requested for another suit idea, and I was given a proposal for this beautiful disco ball-like Outfit 3.”

The Japanese version of the post also includes an extra tidbit of information that the developers apparently had to do a bunch of extra testing on the disco ball suit to make sure it didn’t sparkle too much during battle too.

We’ve learned some more interesting stuff from these posts recently as well like how Cammy’s big red coat is indeed inspired by one of her brief looks in the Street Fighter 2 animated film.

Moreover, they’ve tried making Blanka-chan a bit more gameplay friendly in SF6, so that way they hopefully don’t have to ban if from tournaments like what happened in Street Fighter 5.

Dee Jay is set to get his new suit alongside the other 17 launch characters when Outfit 3 launches in Street Fighter 6 on December 1, and though they haven’t given us the prices yet, we have some ideas as to how much this stuff is going to cost.
