The Brussels Challenge 2024 brought the major fighting game action back to Belgium this weekend in a big way.
Now that the tournament action has wrapped at the event, we’ve gone back and gathered the full top 32 character usage stats for both Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 with some interesting results.
As what may well end up being one of the last SF6 majors with the Season 1 balance, Brussels hammered down what we’ve been seeing across this first year with some interesting exceptions.
Luke and Ken were once again the most popular fighters in the upper brackets, and if we combine their numbers with Cammy’s in third place, that equates to just under 50% of all top 32 characters.
There were 17 main picks in total with 7 of them being repeats so only Zangief, Lily, Marisa and Jamie were the only ones left on the sidelines.
As far as we know, however, this may be the first time all three SF6 DLC characters have reached the top 32 of a major with Rashid, A.K.I. and Ed all placing high.
In fact, Mouz|EndingWalker would impressively manage to take the whole thing with Ed boy after making the full switch back to his Street Fighter 5 favorite.

As for Tekken, the competition here was also pretty darn stacked considering Brussels served as a Challenger Event on the Tekken World Tour this year.
We ended up seeing 20 different main picks throughout the top 32 and only 7 repeats along with a handful of secondary / side picks to help flesh things out.
Although he hadn’t done too much in the new game thus far, Yoshimitsu had a big weekend as the most popular fighter of the upper brackets with three of them cracking the top 16.
What may be more impressive, however, is seeing 3 Claudio mains reach top 8 after players worried his toolkit may be too simple to get the job done in the new game.
