Straughn (5-4) will look to rebound after a tough rivalry loss and return home to meet Goshen (6-2) in a non-region contest on Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.
This will be the 18th meeting between the two teams dating back to 1975 and their first matchup on the football field in 23 years. The Eagles lead the all-time series 11-6 over the Tigers.
“Goshen has had a very successful season and will be playing with a lot of confidence coming into our game. They run a tough offensive scheme, so our defense will have to be ready to stop their rushing attack. Their goal is to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and our guys will have to be ready for that challenge,” Head Coach Garrett Windham said.
Last week, Straughn fell in its region finale at Opp, 46-7. Goshen was also on the road and dispatched Luverne in region play, 42-12.
“We missed a ton of opportunities, and I tip my hat to the Opp coaches. I thought their guys played extremely well, and that was the difference in the game,” Windham said.
The Eagles held on for a 28-21 home win against the Tigers in the 2001 season.
