PARADISE — Storytime in the Park brought together a storyteller and an appreciative audience among tall trees at Bille Park on Saturday morning.
Michelle and Christopher Tremain took their 1½-year-old son, Azariah Tremain. The Tremains live in Magalia and decided to drive to the Paradise park, where Jon Peeples of the Butte County Library — also known as Children’s Librarian Jon — read “If You Give a Mouse a Brownie” to Azariah and sang songs such as “I Know a Chicken.”
Peoples has worked as a teacher and a tutor in the past before joining the library.
“I love working with kids,” he said. “We always have a great time.”
The next event with Children’s Librarian Jon will be Tuesday at Durham Park at 10 a.m. There are other story times and summer reading programs at all branches of the library.
Peoples said the library staff encourages parents to visit the county library, which also has elderly literacy programs.
