A new tech known as Phantom MLG has the community wondering what should become of Steve when it comes to the tournament scene. Should the tech get banned, or should the entire character just receive a ban at this point?

Unfortunately, whatever ruling is decided for tournaments won’t necessarily matter for online play. As it turns out, Steve players are already incorporating the Phantom MLG while playing Elite Smash.

In a clip uploaded to Twitter by Atomizer, a match between Sora (Atomizer) and a Steve user unfolded. Though both players were on their final stocks, the Steve player was far closer to a death percentage than the Sora player.

A whiffed grab from the Steve player resulted in Sora securing an opening for a punish. From here, Atomizer began pulling off Sora’s famous “Noop” string (neutral aerial loops).

This went on for a little bit, but the Steve player was eventually able to escape the combo using the Phantom MLG tech. This removes all doubt that the Phantom MLG has a practical usage in matches since it’s now been determined that it can be incorporated even mid combo.
