…returns snatched riffle back to the force.
The State Security Adviser – South, Mr. Ani Esin in company of the Vice Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State have facilitated the return of an AK 47 riffle that was snatched by the youths of the local government domiciled around the Calabar/Itu axis from an officer of the Nigerian Police in a scuffle between the officers and the community over border institution.
The incident which occured some weeks ago as Cross River State Governor ordered the closure of border to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus into the State, would have escalated into a regrettable spectacle but for the intervention of the State Security Adviser, Mr Ani Esin who immediately waded into the matter.
Regrettably, an AK 47 was snatched from an officer of the Nigerian Police Force by a mob from a nearby community at the Calabar/Itu border over disagreements on border security which ended with several casualties.
Speaking while returning to the MOPOL 11 Commander ACP KABIRU T. SALISU, Mr Ani assured the Nigerian Police Force of the State’s commitment to foster and strengthen the relationship between the State and the force.
