Star Rail announces giant mech Pom-Pom in Street Fighter 6... for April Fool's of course

Considering what day it is, you can’t really trust anything you see on the internet (at least even less than usual), but you can bet there will be some weird and funny stuff.

miHoYo is going absolutely nuts for April Fool’s Day this year with a bunch of unexpected crossovers in Honkai: Star Rail, including something of a teaser video for Street Fighter 6.

The short video in question features Honkai mascot Pom-Pom on SF6’s character select screen up next to Jamie, and picking the fuzzy little guy has them actually pop out.

Although they are in their usual cute form at first, Pom-Pom transforms into a giant battle mech of the train in order to fight Chun-Li, but we unfortunately never get to see gameplay for this fake collaboration — and probably never will.

Capcom is also of course in on this joke with their “surprised” responses to the announcement.

Considering the pretty impressive presentation, the SF6 devs may have created a quick custom build of the game to make Pom-Pom selectable, which we’ve seen them do in the past.

This Paramount Supreme Mobile Fusion Trailblaze Warrior: Ultima Primus mech appears in their fake new movie trailer too for SHOWDOWN! COSMIC TRAILBLAZE SAGA OF HEROES that had a ton of effort put into it.

Street Fighter and Honkai actually crossing paths is not out of the picture at some point in the future, but players will have to settle for a Monster Hunter collaboration right now.

From other fighting games, we’ve also seen Arc System Works announce a special new character for Guilty Gear Strive and Cygames release a trailer for Fanblue Grantasy Rises: Versing as a total fever dream for April Fool’s Day.

Capcom used to join in on the special occasion with surprise mini-games and such for Street Fighter 5, but it seems they’re content with being part of other people’s jokes this year.
